COVID-19 Summer Workshop Statement
SYAA's camps might look a little different this year because of COVID-19 precautions, but we are committed to providing a fun, educational, and safe experience for our campers. Based off of the most recent CDC and State of Louisiana guidelines, we will be utilizing the safety protocols listed below. (Obviously, if the CDC and state guidelines change, then we will revisit and revise each of the following guidelines as necessary.)
CURBSIDE DROP-OFF & PICK-UP: A staff member will meet you at the curb for drop-off and pick-up. Parents and siblings that are not a part of the workshop will NOT be allowed in the building during camp hours.
MANDATORY TEMPERATURE & HEALTH CHECKS: All staff & students will have their temperature taken by contactless thermometer before entering the building. Anyone with a temperature of more than 100.4° will not be allowed to stay. Additionally, any staff member or student showing signs of illness during the day will be isolated and a parent/guardian called to come take them home.
MASKS: Per state guidelines, "Adults and children, as able, should wear cloth masks. Children under two years old and individuals with severe breathing difficulties should not wear masks." If your child needs to be excused from this requirement, please submit a note from your doctor to that effect.
CLASS SIZE AND COMPOSITION: This summer, we will be returning to our standard class size of a maximum of 15 students per class, and each class will travel between three to five different classrooms/teachers throughout the day. However, we will NOT have a full camp activity and/or meeting at the beginning and ending of each day as we have in the past.
DAILY SHOW-OFFS: Prior to last year, we have offered a daily showcase during the last fifteen minutes of each day; however, this year, we are going to forego those mini-performances.
FRIDAY SHOWCASES: We are excited to announce the return of our live performances on Fridays! Our theatre seats 250 audience members, and according to our most recent information, we are at 50% seating capacity, or 125 people. To allow for more family members to be able to see students perform, we are going to be offering two performances on Fridays, one at 3 p.m. and one at 4 p.m. Each family will receive two (2) tickets to each performance. We will have a process in place to allow for families to trade tickets if they need more or will not be using their tickets for one of the performances, and if we have open availability at curtain, we will allow additional audience members into the performance. At this time, masks will be required for all adults while in the building.
If you have any questions or concerns about our preparations, please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Ages 5-12 • Cost: $150*
*20% off all registrations made on or before May 31 using the code EARLY21. All summer long, take 10% off for additional siblings or if students have already purchased another camp at full price. If the discount does not appear at registration, please contact the box office by email or by phone.
CenterStage Workshops are for ages 5 to 12, and they use fun theatre games and activities to help students build their self-confidence, self-awareness, and communication & teamwork skills. Then, at the end of the week, students create a short performance that they will present live to parents and families. Each workshop has a different pop culture theme so students can participate in as many weeks of camp as they would like and get a different experience each week. Plus each week has a theatre specialty focus to make each week even more unique and exciting for repeat campers. For more information on what a week at camp looks like, click here!
