Scenes With Shakespeare
Ages 12-18
Tuesdays 4:15-5:15 p.m.

This Shakespeare class will focus on bringing the Bard's work to life through performance. Students will explore key acting skills, including diction, projection, and character development, through various scenes and monologues from some of Shakespeare's most beloved plays. They'll learn how to fully immerse themselves and their audience in these scenes all while making the Bard fun and accessible for a 21st century audience. Skills will be displayed in a Showcase at the end of the semester.

Creative Kids
Ages 5-7
Tuesdays 4:15-5:15 p.m.
$60/month

Theme: Bluey

Get your five- to seven-year-old involved in the theatre and allow them to explore the arts through creative play. This class is meant to help your young children develop self-awareness, increase self-confidence, and boost their communication skills through loads of fun and energetic activities led by our SYAA Artist-in-Residence, Jessica Rainwater-Grigson.

Young Performers
Ages 8-12
Thursdays 4:15-5:15 p.m.
$60/month

Theme: Sidekick Takeover

Join the 8-12 yr. old Young Performers at SYAA as they mount a one-act production. Designed to train young students in theatrical elements such as projection, memorization, stage presence, and teamwork, the weekly workshop format is ideal for the busy family and the even busier child. Also, the training is invaluable for younger students looking to shine in principle roles in SYAA's MainStage productions.

Professor of Theatre at Louisiana Christian University, Tabitha Huffman will lead the students in learning a standard British accent and a standard Irish accent in this 2-hour intensive.  Learn or improve these accents for your next role!
